Russia’s Systemprom Concern has developed a new universal armoured robotic platform that can be configured to perform a range of military operations.
Dubbed URP-01G, the robot can be used for army scout-attack missions, police counter-terrorist operations, firefighting, post-accident clean-up after incidents at nuclear power plants, chemical and biological hazard reconnaissance, as well as guard patrol functions and rescue operations.

By GlobalDataThe 7t-robot is capable of carrying up to 2t of hardware and has a maximum speed of 40km / h. It will also be able to survive a fall of up to 2m.
Systemprom science and technology department chief Aleksey Simulin said: "Onboard the complex there will be a large variety of accessory sub-systems to maintain [electric] supply and control of the payload systems.
"We can turn this machine into virtually anything. The machine is designed in such a way that it could be loaded into a military truck or could be airdropped."
While the robot is currently able to operate at a distance of 10km away from its control centre, Systemprom intends to transform it into an autonomous system with artificial intelligence capabilities.
The URP-01G could be transformed into an radio-electronic warfare unit or a communication repeater, and has been designed to operate in a range of unfriendly environments, such as a battlefield, a nuclear fallout area, extreme polar night Arctic conditions, or mine sweeping.
All the platform’s control electronic components have been built by local companies.
Internal trials of the robot, which can function without Windows or Linux operating systems, are expected to start later this year.
Systemprom is reportedly developing two variants of URP-01G for the Russian Army.
The first is a battlefield version armed with a heavy machine gun and grenade launchers, while the second scout version is equipped with a small reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle.
