The inaugural Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) Germany event, is poised to address the heightened focus on defence and security from Germany and its European counterparts as the international security landscape undergoes significant shifts.
Set to take place from 19 to 22 January 2027 at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds, DSEI Germany aims to present an array of contemporary military hardware, weaponry, technology and materials that are vital for maintaining national defence capabilities, fulfilling alliance obligations, and securing geopolitical stability.
On 27 February 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the German government revealed a significant shift in its security and foreign policy, which Chancellor Olaf Scholz described as a ‘Zeitenwende’.
The conflict initiated by Russia in Ukraine, escalating global tensions, and the exposure of essential infrastructure to potential threats are shaping Europe’s evolving defence requirements and the increased need to meet the demands.
DSEI Germany 2027 exhibition, backed by the German Federal Ministry of Defence and Bundeswehr, will facilitate engagement between industrial firms and their suppliers as they navigate the increased requirements stemming from Zeitenwende.
Germany Defence Federal Minister Boris Pistorius said: “The turning point in Germany’s defence policy not only requires us to reorientate our defence strategy but also calls for technological and industrial capabilities to be promoted in a targeted manner.
“DSEI Germany can provide Germany with an important platform to demonstrate its defence capabilities, technological leadership, and innovative strength on the international stage.”
Further, discussions at DSEI Germany will be grounded in the security policy priorities of Nato and the EU, with military and civilian leaders deliberating on strategic defence matters and the potential for collaborative partnerships.
In light of the “Trinity House” agreement in 2024, aimed at bolstering security and defence cooperation between the UK and Germany, DSEI Germany will also serve as a forum for strengthening and broadening partnerships and alliances both within Europe and globally. It will also foster cooperation in security policy.
DSEI EMEA CEO Chris Gallon said: “DSEI is a long established and respected brand in the defence and security sector and has a strong reputation for delivering events of outstanding value for the global audience we serve at both DSEI in London and Tokyo.
“DSEI Germany presents a key opportunity to bring the domestic industry together with its allies and partners to demonstrate capability and concepts.”
Deutsche Messe is spearheading the organisation of DSEI Germany in collaboration with the teams behind DSEI UK and DSEI Japan, which are among the premier defence and security trade shows globally. These events are held biennially in London and Tokyo.
