Since 2003, Dr Diesel Technologies knowledge base has provided performance-based diagnostic solutions and test equipment to many US defence contractors, the US Army, US Navy and US Marine Corps. These joint-service diesel diagnostic solutions were in direct support of contractors, sailors, soldiers and US Marines in the global war on terrorism (GWOT).
Personnel at Dr Diesel Technologies have a significant depth of experience creating, updating, and/or revising technical data in the form of highly sophisticated Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) using EMS Next Gen, electronic technical manuals (ETMs), and conforming Technical Manuals (TMs).
The DDTS knowledge base includes an ‘expert’ level knowledge of the US Army TACOM Electronic Maintenance System Next Generation (EMS NG) IETM Authoring suite, which is used by both the US Army and US Marine Corps for tactical and combat vehicles and equipment IETMs.
This experience and expertise is used to provide technical publication support to various US military customers. Utilising and refining the same skills used for technical data development, our publications staff has supported technical publication efforts, which include, but are not limited to, modification instructions (MIs) and technical instructions (TIs).
The Dr Diesel Technologies team has many years of experience developing diagnostic troubleshooting flow charts, IETM content, technical writing, validation / verification and integration testing efforts.
Work over the years with US Army Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM), Product Directorate-Test, Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (PD-TMDE) and Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), as well as original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) for the many US Army and Marine Corps vehicles related to Class V Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), has resulted in an in-depth knowledge of the following:
- SAE Interfaces – J1708, J1939, J1850, MIL-M-1553, J1587, DCA-ICE
- Test, measurement and diagnostic protocols
- Interactive diagnostics/prognostics
- Fault diagnostic
- Test logic
- Troubleshooting theory
- Setting up test environments (Software test cases/test plans)
- QA / validation and verification (VAL/VER)
Our authors are capable of developing IETM content using the latest applicable Mil-Standards in several development languages, including SGML and XML. Each has an in-depth understanding of schematics, which has enabled them to develop troubleshooting logic flow diagrams from OEM engineering data, even when no legacy documentation was available.
Dr Diesel Technologies has expertise in all aspects of training, including writing lesson plans, developing training formats, and providing field support. The company is proficient in the use of military vehicle diagnostic test equipment and all peripheral hardware and software including:
- Army’s SPORT, MSD, MSD-V2
- Marine Corps TMDE EMSS (Panasonic Tough Book/DPA4)
- Marine Corps TMDE Vehicle Automated Diagnostic System (VADS)
Dr Diesel Technologies Platform Expertise
Dr Diesel’s Intrusive Diagnostic Experts have developed or have been involved in the development of IETMs for the following platforms:
Army vehicles:
- M915/915/917
- M939 5 Ton Trucks
- M113A3
- HMMWV
- HEMMTT
- HET
- PLS
- FMTV
- STRYKER
Marine Corps vehicles:
- LVSR
- MTVR
- HIMARS
- LVSR
- M88 (Hercules)
- MK970
- M-ATV
- MRAP COUGAR
- MRAP BUFFALO
- G/ATOR
The culmination of the above experience results in an almost unique ability to provide the total systems level support needed by today’s combat technicians and mechanics. We know how the maintenance hardware and software are supposed to work together. We are also quite knowledgeable on the troubleshooting and diagnostic tests available that are not normally covered by the deployed technical data package, whether electronic or paper based.
Diagnostic tools for military and tactical vehicles
Dr Diesel Technologies has developed the Diagnostic Analyzer Test Set – Ground Equipment (DATS-E/GE). The DATS-E/GE is the true ‘all-in-one’ diagnostic tool needed to diagnose and troubleshoot motor transport (MT) tactical vehicles and heavy equipment (HE) through the SAE J1708/J1587 / J1939 / OBD-II / CAN Bus and other protocols.
Tools to diagnose and troubleshoot combat watercraft
Dr Diesel Technologies has developed the Diagnostic Analyzer Test Set – Marine (DATS-M). The DATS-M is the true ‘all-in-one’ diagnostic tool needed to diagnose and troubleshoot commercial and combat watercraft through the SAE J1708/J1587 / J1939 / OBD-II / CAN Bus and other protocols.
Advanced data collection system for military vehicles
The Dr Diesel Technologies telematics solution is an automated cost effective wireless data collection system for vehicles and equipment such as heavy duty fleet vehicles, diesel engines and construction equipment configured with SAE J1708/J1587 and J1939 CAN bus protocols.
The Tele-Matics solution is an autonomous system designed with a small footprint. The solution enables data collection, a critical element of any condition-based maintenance (CBM) initiative.
At the heart of the Tele-Matics solution is the iVID module. The iVID is a scalable module that can be programmed to match the specific digital profile of the vehicle or equipment.
Benefits of our telematics solution include:
- Data collection: four categories of data are captured
- Alerts: detects and reports diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Trip data: reports trip totals, including miles, hours, and fuel used
- Triggers: reports vehicle over speed incidents, out of range for oil PSI, coolant, fuel and air temperatures
The telematics solution stores the collected data in non-volatile memory and autonomously transmits the data to a receiver base station.
