MOV’IT GmbH, a leading manufacturer of high-performance braking systems, and TSS International BV, a full-solution provider of mobility products for armoured vehicles, today announced the results of a comparative testing of four braking system setups on an armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The MOV’IT system was objectively observed to have superior stopping power, fade resistance, and an overall consistently high performance. Besides performance, the MOV’IT solution is the only of the four compared options that are equipped with a fully OEM-compatible, plug-and-play Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).

Testing Methodology

The testing was conducted on a closed course under controlled conditions. The armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 300, weighing significantly more than a standard model, was equipped with each of the four braking systems in turn. The vehicle was subjected to a series of tests, including:

  • Bedding-in and warm-up: to ensure a fair comparison between the systems, a bedding-in cycle and a warm-up cycle were done on all setups prior to the performance tests.
  • 100-0 kph deceleration: Repeated tests from 100kph to a complete stop with maximum pedal force, measuring the deceleration in m/s2. The maximum achievable deceleration, given the circumstances (road quality & condition, ambient temperature, etc), was 8m/s2 with ABS activation. Two cycles, of 5ea and 8ea emergency stops, with cooldown between each cycle, were done. ABS activation was monitored and documented.
  • “Traffic” test: 10ea braking actions from 60kph with moderate pedal force to a standstill to simulate demanding urban driving conditions.

Results

The MOV’IT braking system consistently outperformed the other three systems in all tests.

Key Advantages of MOV’IT Braking System

  • Superior Stopping Power: The MOV’IT system provided the most stable and reliable deceleration, crucial for a heavily armoured vehicle.
  • Exceptional Fade Resistance: Even under extreme conditions, the MOV’IT system maintained consistent braking performance and low brake disc temperatures, ensuring safety and control.
  • Enhanced Stability: During emergency braking, the MOV’IT system provided the greatest stability and consistent ABS activation, minimizing the risk of swerving or loss of control.
  • Plug-and-play EPB: the only fully OEM-compatible, plug-and-play Electronic Parking Brake integration in the market. Simply place the OEM actuator in the exact same way as on the OEM callipers.

Conclusion

The results of this comparative testing clearly demonstrate the superiority of the MOV’IT braking system for armoured Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles. MOV’IT’s commitment to engineering excellence and innovation has resulted in a braking system that provides unparalleled performance, safety, and reliability for demanding applications. The close collaboration between TSS, MOV’IT and the vehicle builders ensures a solution that consistently exceeds expectations and allows for the braking system to be elevated from a safety feature to a security feature.
