Abu Dhabi and Weitefeld, Germany, 22 February 2015:

WEW is showcasing a complete military liquid logistics capability at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2015.

The conference is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 22-26 February. WEW will be at stand 09-A02 at the event.

The firm provides systems and solutions for the safe handling of fuel, water, lubricants, and other liquids including waste anywhere in forward-operating areas, field camps, and airfields.

The high-mobility modules that form the core of WEW’s solutions are purpose-designed to be carried on a wide variety of vehicles from small mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAPs) through to high-mobility 8x8s, and many are air-portable by rotary or fixed-wing aircraft.

WEW CEO Dr Ulrich Bernhardt said: "One estimate of the Afghanistan campaign reckoned that fuel accounted for 77% of the logistics load, comprising about 2,000 fuel trucks per day to support the mission at peak operations.

"This is a very large number of journeys where lives were put at considerable risk in a war-zone.

"Defence forces are increasingly recognising that by adopting a modular approach to refuelling, and utilising intelligent systems, and replenishing only when and where it is really necessary, substantially reduces this logistic burden.

"WEW’s turn-key approach includes the use of advanced telematics, which ensures that the fuel, water or waste modules need only be loaded, unloaded, or handled when necessary, rather than by rote.

"This, combined with WEW’s total solution approach, has a significant impact on the number of journeys required, thereby minimising cost and risk."

WEW’s consultancy-based approach includes not only the modules themselves, but also instrument landing system (ILS) and financial packages, as well as full contractor logistic support (CLS), contracting for availability (CFA), and outright purchase. This enables customers to choose the best acquisition solution tailor-made to their requirements.

WEW delivers deployable fuel and water modules, with capacities ranging from 2,000l to 80,000l.

All of the firm’s systems are purpose-designed for "plug and play" simplicity. Most are easily transportable through any civilian or military logistics chain, and many systems are air-portable.

All WEW solutions provide a ‘drop and go’ fuel and water capability for any deployment. This way, forces deployed on expeditionary operations can be assured of extremely rapid deployment and redeployment, even in the most forward and hostile operating areas.
