Klinge has finished production of nineteen military refrigerated A-frame containers and will deliver the equipment to the Swedish Defence Force later this month. Initially a contract for 60 units, Klinge Corporation will deliver a total of 110 units by the first half of 2014. The refrigerated containers will be used by the Swedish Armed Forces to keep perishable goods at their required temperature during storage and transport in the field.
The military refrigerated containers function as a freezer or refrigerator and maintain cargo between -20ºC (-4ºF) and 20ºC (68ºF). The refrigerated containers contain an integrated and self-powered generator set for back-up power.
Special hook frame container
The refrigerated containers are based on a standard 20ft ISO-container with a hook frame for PLS lift trucks.
The special container system is equipped with integrated hydraulic rollers allowing for easy loading or unloading and a manually operated hydraulic pump. The pump enables the rollers to be lowered when loading or unloading and raised when the container is stationary.
The interior of the container is outfitted with a shelving system for food storage and a fire extinguisher for emergencies. The container also includes internal lights and a wicket door (man door).
Qualified to military standards
The equipment is designed to meet the requirements of mobility testing in accordance with AECTP 400 to ensure the system can withstand transportation on roads of poor quality.
The refrigerated container also meets the requirements of Radiated Emission testing in accordance with MIL-STD-461F, RE102 in addition to radiated susceptibility testing in accordance with MIL-STD-461F, RS103.
