On 11 January 1908, a group of aviation pioneers decided to create an employers’ federation to give ‘an industrial character in what had been, up to there, only a sport’. This decision marked the birth of an aircraft industry in France.
To commemorate the 100th birthday of the French aircraft and spatial industry, GIFAS, heir of this employers’ federation, organised a big exhibition of equipments on the Champs-Elysées, between the traffic circle Marcel Dassault and the place of Concorde, from 4 to 12 October 2008.
Our customer, THALES Air Systems, was present during this event with several equipments, among which was its new key project, the air defence mobile radar, GM400.
Euro-Shelter developed the ISO 20ft, EMC-shielded, NBC protected shelter supporting the GM400 radar in partnership with another French company, GTIE Air & Défense. After the delivery of two prototypes in 2008, a first series of five shelters is under manufacturing and will be delivered in 2009.
