Artron is a leading supplier of avionics subsystems for a range of aerospace and military applications.
The company has extensive knowledge and expertise in the development of electronic hardware and software for the defence industry.
Products we offer include unique system-on-module (SoM) solutions, flight control computers, micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) grade inertial measurement units (IMUs), electronic safe and arm mechanisms, and store management systems.
We also provide telemetry systems, tactical data links, on-board flight termination systems, power distribution units, avionics communication boards (ARINC 429/717/664, AFDX), as well as specific processing boards with field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and microprocessors.
High-performance system-on-modules (SoM) solutions for defence applications
The Cygnus family consists of system-on-modules, which provide the user with the ability to combine the software and hardware programmability of ARM processors and Xilinx FPGA’s integrated in Xilinx system-on-chips.
Cygnus SoM family offers an end-to-end solution with multiple SoM models equipped with low-end, small package Zynq-7014s to high-end, complex architecture Ultrascale+ 7EV. Alternative associated carrier boards for these SoCs can also be supplied.
Our Cygnus SoM’s are populated with components capable of working under extended temperature range, including the automotive grade Xilinx SoCs. SoMs are compatible with systems demanding high vibrations when combined with the high mating cycle, high reliability board-to-board connectors. Cygnus SoM’s are small form factor and rugged cards that can be paired with Artron-developed carrier boards to reduce the application development cycle.
A key feature of the solution is the onboard board management controller (BMC) IC. All power rails coming from the carrier board through the connectors are distributed in a controlled manner on the board itself. BMC (the lattice FPGA) ensures that the power inputs are within the allowed limits. This protects the system-on-module (SoM) from electrical damages due to unintentional power inputs.
All components, including capacitors and resistors, are automotive-grade products on the Cygnus family of SoMs. The operating temperature for the whole family is between -40°C and 85°C, making them ideal for use in military applications.
Commercial aircraft communication boards for military missions
Tailored to the individual performance and physical requirements of the customer, Artron can deliver custom design solutions for a wide range of military requirements.
We have previously designed and delivered an in-flight entertainment system, which was fully tested and verified by the customer and successfully integrated into the corresponding system.
Electronic Safe & Arm Devices (ESAD) and fuzes
Artron has extensive expertise in the research, development, manufacturing and integration of advanced fuzes for aerial munitions and custom fuzing systems.
We have developed several electronic safety and arming devices (ESAD) for warhead initiation and motor ignition. Our designs are fully compatible with corresponding military standards and fuzing requirements, including STANAG-4187, MIL-STD-331 and MIL-STD-1316.
The verification procedures for the devices are based upon MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464, including EMP, HERO and direct/indirect lightning.
The safety features are defined independently and controlled by two separate and fully independent logic elements. The logic elements and multiple accelerometers provide the ESADs with the necessary capability to calculate the safety distances and the soundness of the missile flight.
Store management systems for military platforms
Artron develops multiple innovative solutions for stores management on air, land and maritime platforms. Our stores management systems are miniaturised in accordance with the ever-tightening dimension requirements of the aerospace industry.
The emergent product family is the result of Artron’s extensive experience and knowledge in electronics design, embedded software development, and rugged electromechanical integration.
Our advanced family of miniaturised stores interface units (mSIU) consist of products capable of interfacing two or four missile systems. The modular design architecture of the solution enables Artron to react rapidly to the evolving needs of various integration schemes.
The mSIU family is verified in accordance with military standards, such as MIL-STD-810G/461F/704F/1275D, and has been proven in flight operations.
