INTRACOM Defense Electronics has been awarded a new €1.5m contract by the German company Diehl BGT Defence (DBD) for the IRIS-T missile program. Within the frame of the contract, which will be completed by September 2013, INTRACOM Defense Electronics will manufacture the missile electronics for international customers.
IRIS-T missile, which is considered as the most modern infrared guided short range air-to-air missile system worldwide, was designed and is manufactured by an international consortium of six European nations (Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden). The program is a successful government-to-government industrial cooperation, in which our country participates as an equal partner from the original design phase.
INTRACOM Defense Electronics’ participation is dated from 1998, when the company has undertaken and successfully completed the design, development and manufacturing of airborne electronic units of IRIS-T, namely the Guidance Section Power Supply, the Telemetry Section and the Field Test Equipment.
For this program, INTRACOM Defense Electronics has successfully completed contracts of approximately €70m, that employ state of the art technologies in the field of missile electronics.
