Cobham launch dual band Gooseneck

Cobham Antenna Systems, a market-leading antenna solutions provider, has announced the launch of a dual-band, Gooseneck addition to the ‘Universal’ spring mount range of omni-directional antennas.

The Gooseneck antenna, along with a selection of the ‘Universal’ spring mount antennas, will be available to view on Cobham’s booth #1319 in Hall 1 at (AUVSI’s) XPONENTIAL 2016, between 2 – 5 May 2016 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The OA2-2.3V-5.2V / 2358 is a ground plane independent, dual band antenna, which covers the frequency ranges 2.10GHz – 2.60GHz and 4.40GHz – 6.00GHz, offering 4dBi gain in the higher frequencies.

It can be used for multi-band applications, providing a versatile antenna for use with software defined radios taking up less ‘real estate’ on the platform where it is mounted. It can also be used to replace several single band antennas, reducing inventory.

The image included shows an example of a ground robot application.

The OA2-2.3V-5.2V / 2358 has been designed to withstand extremely harsh environments. A glass fibre radome and IP68 rated waterproof exterior mean it is able to withstand heavy impacts, as well as extreme weather conditions.

A permanently fixed Gooseneck allows users to mount the antenna on radios or handheld / body-worn devices and position the antenna as they need or see fit.

During active deployment, where the operator may be standing or lying in a prone position, the antenna can be bent to be vertical for optimum performance. It reduces impacts on the antenna and the radio it is attached to by allowing the antenna to bend away from the point of impact.

Cobham has a range of single band, spring and gooseneck mount alternatives available and we would be happy to discuss bespoke development projects.
