Chris Kendall, director, FAUN Trackway, takes a look back at DSEI 2013, the world’s leading defence and security event.
Settling back into normality after a busy DSEI, it seems like a good time to reflect on what’s gone by.
As the world’s leading defence and security event, DSEI showcases the industry’s great and good, bringing together an audience of more than 30,000 military personnel, contractors and manufacturers over the course of four days.
In response we upped our offering for 2013, taking our biggest ever stand and making significant investment in the development.
I’m pleased to report that FAUN Trackway enjoyed a very successful show, engaging with more delegations than ever before, meeting representatives from armed forces from across the world.
DSEI saw the launch of our new website and downloadable application for the Apple iPad. Both have been designed to offer a quick, convenient and visually-engaging way to access information on our suite of expeditionary recovery matting.
Another highlight was being able to showcase our heavy ground mobility system (HGMS) mounted on an IVECO TRAKKER 8×8. Situated in the Land Zone, the unit gave attendees an opportunity to see this impressive piece of equipment up close and learn about how quickly and efficiently the Trackway can be deployed.
It wasn’t all hard graft, and in amongst forging new relationships and business prospects, FAUN Trackway found time to join drinks receptions for our friends at IVECO, Raytheon and the Welsh Government.
We were also privy to some distinguished visitors in their capacity as champions for UK manufacturing. Philip Dunne MP, Simon Reevell MP and Edwina Hart MBE AM all stopped by to talk to FAUN Trackway about our activities nationally and overseas.
I’d like to thank everyone for making this DSEI a truly spectacular one – we’ll see you in 2015.
