Established in 1995, Leading Edge Group is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, and is involved in activities that focus on the advancement of earthen construction technology for military training applications, in-theater construction projects, and for use in hostile, combat operational environments as an effective safety barrier.
The company also pursues the use of compressed soil blocks and earthen construction for housing and commercial buildings in undeveloped countries around the world. This state-of-the-art technology provides a cost-effective answer to meeting the community housing and construction needs of an ever-expanding world population by providing an ideal substitute for concrete, wood and steel construction materials.
Compressed soil block and soil mixing machines
We are the exclusive distributor of a unique and technologically advanced series of compressed soil block and soil mixing machines to military organizations worldwide. Utilizing a hydraulic press mechanism to rapidly produce uniform compressed soil blocks, this equipment has been used to support the construction of everything from multimillion dollar homes to IED defeat training lanes and MOUT training sites on military installations.
Mobile compressed soil block machine
The Series 960 was designed for large production, high-volume construction projects. Examples of this would include extensive training installations, force protection security walls and barriers, and other applications requiring significant volumes of blocks. It is a fully self-contained, mobile machine which can be used anywhere in the world.
Fully automated compressed soil block machine
The Series 480 is fully automated and can produce two different sizes of full load bearing, non-fired, structural construction blocks. The machine can be set to vary the thickness of the blocks from 2.0in to 4.5in. Soil is loaded with a front-end loader or bobcat type loader. This unit is by far the most popular model for military applications. It also performs quite well in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief situations.
Lightweight compressed soil block machine
The Series 240 is very light and can be hauled behind a farm tractor, car or compact pickup truck equipped with a ball hitch. The machine has been designed for extremely remote areas around the world where inexpensive labor pools exist or access to front-end loaders is not possible. It is loaded with shovels or buckets and can be easily moved by hand around the construction site. This unit is ideally suited for humanitarian assistance or disaster relief projects.
Soil mixing machine
The Series 20 is capable of mixing soil and other materials at a variable rate up to 20+ yards per hour. Moisture is added as required through eight nozzles that can be controlled by the operator for desired ratios. Additives such as portland cement, lime, fly ash and moisture can all be controlled to operator’s specification. The unit will process enough soil to feed one LEGI Series 960 CSBM or two LEGI series 480 machines.
Smaller capacity mixing machine
This unit mixes soil and other materials at a variable rate up to 10+ yards per hour. Moisture is added as required through six nozzles that can be controlled by the operator for desired ratios. The additives and moisture can all be controlled to operator’s specification. The machine will process enough soil to feed one LEGI Series 480 compressed soil block machine.
