Fischer Connectors has been designing, manufacturing and distributing high-performance connectors and cable assembly solutions for more than 60 years. Known for their reliability, precision and resistance to demanding and harsh environments, Fischer Connectors’ products are ideally suited for use in military, defence and security applications.
Fischer Connectors is a trusted partner of future soldier programmes around the world, and its rugged electrical and optical connectivity and cable assembly solutions are engineered to withstand the most extreme field conditions:
- Rugged, lightweight and compact connectors
- Sealed and hermetic connectors (up to IP68, even unmated)
- Easy blind mating, even with gloves
- Extreme temperature resistance
- EMI shielded connectors for reliable data transmission
- Designed for durability and stealth
Fischer Core Series: any size, any configuration, any application
The versatile Fischer Core Series connectors and cable assembly solutions are relied upon by military forces worldwide, e.g. in the US Military’s Future Force Warrior Programme, the UK Ministry of Defence’s FIST Programme and France’s FELIN equipment.
With waterproof sealing up to IP68 / IP69 mated and unmated, along with three independent sealing barriers, they withstand shocks, vibrations, immersion, corrosion and extreme temperatures. Manufactured under the most stringent quality conditions, they have been tested to strict IEC standards, comparable to MIL-Specs.
These secure push-pull connections can easily be combined with other product lines.
Fischer Ultimate™ Series: rugged, compact, lightweight
The durable Fischer UltiMate™ Series connectors are best for tough applications when weight matters.
These rugged, compact, lightweight, sealed connectors and cable assembly solutions are ideally suited to withstand a variety of severe environmental, industrial and chemical conditions. They have extremely robust mechanical keying, IP68/69 sealing even unmated (tested on request up to 120m submersion for 24 hours), 360° EMC shielding using a grounding contact ring.
They therefore offer exceptional shock, vibration and corrosion resistance, and can operate at temperatures from -55°C to 135°C.
To meet security needs, they also have locking push pull or emergency release, robust keying with four different codes, blind mating, anti-reflective and conductive body coating in grey anthracite. Designed to be highly configurable, they offer a choice of crimp, solder or PCB contacts, plus bend relief and colour overmoulding.
This means they can readily be adapted to equipment manufacturers’ specific needs, and integrated into specialised products for all types of defence and security applications.
Fischer FiberOptic Series: robust, optical performance, easy cleaning
The Fischer FiberOptic Series is well-known of its robust and faultless optical performances in any conditions, combined with easy use, cleaning and maintenance even in the field. UPC and APC polishing reduces insertion and return losses, making devices more secure, while IP68 sealing provides highly valuable device protection.
The push-pull locking system allows quick and easy connections and disconnections, making these connectors ideally suited for outdoor environments. The removable sleeve holder (monobloc mate adapter) ensures that end faces can be cleaned easily, keeping electronics in top condition.
Ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications, the Fischer FiberOptic Series connectors also come pre-cabled and are available in two versions, with one, two or four optical channels, or in a hybrid version. The hybrid connector has two fibre channels and two electrical contacts, therefore allowing both power and data to be transmitted flawlessly through one small connector.
Fischer MiniMax™ Series: high-density, signal and power, miniaturisation
The high-density Fischer MiniMax™ Series is a unique miniature signal and power solution suited to applications when density, signal and power, and size matter.
It is available as a standalone connector, or as a complete pre-cabled solution, in configurations ranging from four to 24 contacts. The MiniMax connectors come in two sizes, 06 and 08, with receptacles of 10mm and 12mm footprint respectively.
They’re also tough, with IP68 (2m/24h) sealing, both mated and unmated, an unbreakable keying system that withstands more than 4 Nm of torque, and over-moulded assemblies able to withstand 40kg of pull (break-away) force. Replacing multiple connectors with a single connector saves space and weight, giving designers more flexibility.
Fischer FreedomTM Series: breakthrough plug and use connectivity with easy mating, easy cleaning, easy integration
The brand-new Fischer Freedom™ Series launched in June 2018 facilitates integration, maximises usability and optimises cable management for a wide variety of applications within markets such as defence, security, medical, industrial and civil engineering.
The low-profile, rugged and versatile Fischer LP360™, the first product in the series, has seven signal and power contacts with USB 2.0 and Ethernet. It offers:
- Easy mating – no key code: 360° mating freedom and optimised cable management; blind-mate, non-magnetic ball locking with variable force
- Easy cleaning – membrane-sealed contacts, fully cleanable – plug and receptacle; IP68 sealed to -20m/24h)
- Easy integration – low profile, right-angled plug; wearable integration OR panel mounted (receptacle), easy cable assembly or direct integration into device (plug)
Breakthrough 360° mating freedom enables the Fischer LP360™ to be plugged and routed in any direction, so the cable can always go straight to the device – no more twists and turns! It is also possible to opt for cable-free solutions by integrating the plug directly into the device’s housing.
The Fischer Freedom™ Series enables design engineers to build an intelligent vest which works as a hub with multiple portable and body-worn devices connected to a shared data and power bus. Clutter is reduced and usability increased, making equipment lighter and faster to set up. These benefits also open up further opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT).
Fischer Rugged Flash Drive: data portability and security
The Fischer Rugged Flash Drive is an extremely tough memory stick, specially designed for safe storage and transportation of sensitive data in harsh environments. It is suitable for use with ruggedised computers. The unique Fischer circular connector interface, combined with durable encapsulation technique, guarantees data safety in case of loss or theft.
The flash drive is equipped with high speed flash memory, signalling and protocol certified, and available from 4Gb to 256Gb. The data can be accessed quickly and securely via the Fischer UltiMate™ connector interface. The Fischer Rugged Flash Drive is waterproof down to 120 metres and is resistant to extreme operating temperatures (-40°C to 85°C).
Fischer Connectors’ primary design and manufacturing facilities are located in Saint-Prex, Switzerland, with subsidiaries and distributors located worldwide.
