SMAG has been manufacturing mobile antenna masts for more than twenty years, and through this has developed much experience in building truck and trailer mounted telescopic lattice mast constructions up to heights of 40m. They have manufactured more than 1,200 mobile antenna masts which are being successfully used worldwide for military and civil communications. The most remarkable features of SMAG mobile antenna masts are:

  • Small field requirement
  • Low dead-weight
  • High mobility on roads and on off-road terrain
  • Short erection and retrieval times with very little staff
  • High accuracy at the mast point, even under difficult environmental conditions
  • High reliability
  • Easy to operate and easy to maintain
  • Extremely versatile applications
  • High compatibility

Ftm 20/4 MOBILE ANTENNA MAST FOR MILITARY APPLICATIONS

The Ftm 20/4 mobile antenna mast comes with an aluminium mast package, is mainly mounted on single-axle trailers with individual operation heights up to 25m and has been especially designed for use with military applications.

It has been released for use only after extensive tests and trial runs carried out by the Armed Forces, and is being used by the Federal Armed Forces for the following projects: Autoko II, ELOKA, MKBS, SCRA and Autoko 90.

The Ftm 20/4 mounted on a trailer in its operational position.
The Ftm 15-4 mobile antenna mast mounted on a shelter in its operational position.
The Fth 34/5 mobile antenna mast mounted on a truck in its transport position.
The Ftm 11/2 mounted on a truck in its operational position.
The Ftm 9/3 mobile antenna mast mounted on an armoured vehicle.

It can be erected by a two-man crew in just 15 minutes, even on slopes up to 10°, by means of an electrical rope winch. The mast can be fitted with, for example, three parabolic antennae of 90cm diameter, without guy wires. Via remote control the antennae can be adjusted independently in azimuth and elevation.

Fth 34/5 OFF-ROAD TRUCK-MOUNTED MOBILE ANTENNA MAST

The Fth 34/5 off-road truck-mounted antenna has been developed for military action in extreme terrain. It is currently being used by the Swedish Armed Forces for the LIRKA project. The remote controlled levelling system permits safe and rapid deployment, even on slopes up to 7°, within less than 20 minutes by a two-man crew. Mast-erection succeeds by means of hydraulic cylinders; mast extension by means of a rope winch up to a height of 34m.

The mast point can be equipped with four RL-antennae, adjustable via remote control in azimuth and elevation. These are programmable, irrespective of each other, with an automatic north correction and three VHF-antennae.

Fth 40/4 MOBILE ANTENNA MAST

The first 40m antenna mast was developed for German Telecom (live TV transmissions). Today, the Fth 40/4 is also used for telecommunication services and for numerous other applications. Upon request, the mast system is mounted on a truck or a double-axle trailer (Ftm 36/9).

The mast can be erected up to a height of 40m by means of a rope-winch. Deployment time for a two-man crew is about 30 minutes.

In addition to the well-proven trailer- or truck-mounted antenna masts, we also offer tailor-made solutions meeting the specific requirements of our customers.

The flexibility of our lattice mast design allows adaptation of the system to very different types of vehicles.

Ftm 9/3 MOBILE ANTENNA MAST FOR ARMOURED WHEELED VEHICLES OR SHELTERS

The Ftm 9/3 mobile antenna mast system, designed on the basis of the AutoKo II system, has especially been adapted for use with armoured wheeled vehicles or shelters (Ftm 15/4) for the Swiss Army. The aluminium mast package is erected by means of a spindle drive that also ensures levelling of the system in the direction of travel. A rope drive is provided to telescope the mast up to the full height. All mast functions are remote-controlled. Erection of the mast system is even possible on rough ground.

Ftm 11/2 MOBILE ANTENNA MAST FOR THE KZO SYSTEM

The Ftm 11/2 mobile antenna mast has been designed for the KZO reconnaissance and target localisation system provided by Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH to the German Armed Forces. It is a pick up solution for an off-road truck with an ordinary load-platform. The support, levelling and erection of the mast are driven electrically via remote control.
