Cubic Defense has secured a position on an eight-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide services to the US Army’s Program Executive Officer (PEO) Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (STRI) programmes.
The Long-Term Range and Capacity (LTRaC) multiple award contract (MAC) Lot 3 encompasses management, engineering, and manufacturing support throughout the life cycle of both existing and new instrumentation systems used in live training exercises at various US Army stations and combat training centres (CTCs).
Within the framework of LTRaC MAC Lot 3, Cubic is set to compete for contracts that involve extensive life-cycle maintenance for live training ranges and associated instrumentation systems.
The contract’s scope includes a range of activities such as continuous technology refreshments (CTRs), system modernisation, analytical studies, and development projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of CTCs, live fire ranges, HITS, synthetic training environment-live training systems (STE-LTS), and the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center-Instrumentation System (JPMRC-IS).
Additionally, the programme will focus on implementing updates and providing engineering support aligned with the US Army’s Live Training Transformation (LTS) initiatives and standards.
According to Cubic Defense president Russell Marsh, the company’s portfolio of Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems (TESS) alongside Instrumentation Systems (IS) equips both the US Army and international allies with the capability to execute scalable Force on Force (FoF) training exercises where necessary.
These systems are designed to mimic the intricate multi-domain operational settings that are essential for achieving combat readiness.
The IS offerings facilitate the gathering and analysis of data, thereby producing instrumented After Action Reviews (AARs). This function supports military personnel in their training endeavours as they prepare for actual combat scenarios, stated Marsh.
Cubic Ground Training vice president and general manager Alicia Combs said: “The LTRaC programme is critical to the US Army’s ability to conduct live FoF and force-on-target training at the point of need. Cubic’s Live Training System (LTS) IS family of products provides Soldiers the ability to conduct instrumented live training, at scale, in any operational environment, facilitating the ability to conduct instrumented AARs.
“The LTS-deployable IS system has supported home station training for the US Army as the home station instrumentation training system (HITS) program of record (POR), in addition to supporting multiple allied and coalition partners.”
