International Road Dynamics (IRD) has more than 35 years’ experience as a supplier of intelligent transportation systems.
The company has continually innovated over the years, delivering leading-edge technology for border security and access control systems. It delivers complex, integrated systems that incorporate computer systems, custom software development, industrial-grade electronics, and durable camera and sensor components.
Access control systems for military and government organisations
IRD secures facilities and monitors vehicle access for military, industrial, and government organisations. The company’s systems provide perimeter security, vehicle identification and tracking, video inspection, and automated recordkeeping. They can also incorporate automated entry fee collection systems into access control systems.
IRD combines experience in the truck safety and toll collection industries to integrate technologies such as radio frequency identification (RFID), weigh-in-motion (WIM) and licence plate readers (LPR).
By using these advanced vehicle identification technologies, vehicles can be tracked through approach, entrance and egress from the facility. A database of site visitors can be automatically updated for later security audits.
Under-vehicle surveillance systems (UVSS) for defence transportation
IRD’s under-vehicle surveillance systems (UVSS) solutions are designed to digitally record clear video images of the entire width of a vehicle’s undersides. The solution is ideal for governmental, military, corporate, and transportation facilities, wherever complete vehicle monitoring to detect contraband or explosives is required.
Permanently installed systems are modular so they fit various widths of vehicles, roadways and entrances. IRD’s UVSS system is a versatile and cost-effective solution for checking underneath vehicles.
The UVSS’ high-resolution colour cameras provide clear, sharp images, with bright white, high-intensity LED-based lighting illuminating the vehicle’s undercarriage for full visibility. With the ability to place cameras anywhere along the length of the ramp, wheel wells and other details are easy to capture.
Field of view, focal length and the camera angle simulate a person in a pit viewing vehicles passing over. No infrared light is supplied to confuse the security personnel from switching to a monochrome image from a colour image.
Under-vehicle inspection and area scanning systems for security operations
IRD’s under-vehicle area scanning (UVAS) system uses colour area scanning technology to effectively inspect vehicle undercarriages to locate and analyse images for explosive devices, suspicious objects or contraband such as drugs and weapons.
It is an ideal system for government, military, transportation, and corporation facilities requiring security checkpoints for vans, tractor trailers, buses, and passenger vehicles. Monochrome (black and white) models are also available.
The entire length of the vehicle can be viewed in real time and the UVAS produces full high-definition colour images, even with vehicles moving up to 75km/h (47mph). The scanning camera is available from 500 foot-pound-second (FPS) up to 900FPS.
The UVAS’s high-resolution digital camera supplies clear and sharp images. High-intensity, bright white LED-based lighting highlights the vehicle’s undercarriage so details aren’t lost in shadows. With the full-length light composition and specially designed camera angle the wheel wells and other under-carriage details are easy to capture, with no need for additional auxiliary cameras.
The heavy duty, under-vehicle inspection system comes with light arrangements and a built-in scanner. The weight bearing capacity for a standard system is 78 tonnes (t) and an optional 110t capacity is available upon request. Adverse environments, rugged terrain and extreme temperatures were taken into consideration while designing this system.
Portable hand-held under vehicle inspection camera for military bases
The FLEX-HH-300 handheld under-vehicle surveillance camera kit has been designed as a lightweight, low-power portable system for simple set-up and operations. It is ideal for tactical operations, vehicle entry points, border crossings, dead space and patrol line monitoring, perimeter security and observation posts, as well as entry points for military bases and other remote areas where threat detection and management are required.
The FLEX-HH-300 is a self-contained, lightweight pole camera for inspecting hard-to-reach or high-risk areas for potential security hazards or breaches. It includes two types of cameras, one of which is mounted on a dolly for easy access to the underside of vehicles and the other being a flexible pole camera for examining challenging areas such as above drop-ceilings, small cavities or pipe openings, corner views or behind immovable objects.
