Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 95,600,000 with more than 2,043,000 deaths and 52,774,000 recoveries.
The US, India, and Brazil remain the top three most affected countries worldwide.
Decreasing trends of new daily confirmed cases are observed in both the US and India, however, they are continuing to rise in Brazil.
Japan recently reported a record high of 7,863 new daily cases amidst its third wave of the virus, with unclear infection routes in highly populated cities such as Tokyo raising concern of a wider undetected spread.
The UK has closed all travel corridors until at least February 15, with all travellers arriving in the country required to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test to be allowed entry.
This change follows similar restrictions in other countries, including the US and Germany, attempting to limit numbers of imported cases whilst the countries battle ongoing surges in case numbers.
