New Zealand’s Armed Forces have been ordered to take charge of overseeing the entire Covid-19 quarantine process of new arrivals. This development follows after two women who returned from the UK were allowed to leave a managed isolation facility in the country without being tested for Covid-19. The two arrivals, who left quarantine early on compassionate grounds, were later found infected with coronavirus. This practice now been suspended. Assistant Chief of Defence Air Commodore Digby Webb has been appointed to oversee the quarantine process.

The California Military Department has successfully packed and distributed 50 million meals to citizens and communities of the state during its Covid-19 humanitarian support mission. The California National Guard and California State Guard service members operated at more than 30 food banks in 20 counties across the state. Around 700 soldiers and airmen have supported the nearly 70-day mission, which started in late March.
The Trump administration’s public–private partnership initiative Operation Warp Speed (OWS) is set to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccine development and delivery. OWS is working with several companies to rapidly-produce a vaccine and distribution solutions. It is a partnership between the Defense Department and the Department of Health and Human Services.
