Senop, a subsidiary of Millog and part of Patria, has secured an order from Saab for the delivery of its advanced fire control device thermal imager (AFCD TI) smart sight.
To be delivered to an undisclosed Nato nation, this AFCD TI is specifically designed for integration with Saab's Carl-Gustaf system.
The Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifle is a versatile, man-portable weapon system used by dismounted soldiers to tackle various battlefield challenges.
The AFCD TI smart sight is compatible with both Carl-Gustaf M4 and M3 models, integrating critical performance features into a single casing.
It offers an uncooled thermal imager, day camera, eye safe laser rangefinder, inertial measurement unit, and ballistic computer with environmental sensors.
These features enable effective target engagement, day or night, with a high first-hit probability.
The device weighs 1.7kg and meets stringent usability requirements.
Senop president Aki Korhonen said: “For the past four-five years, Senop has grown significantly and that has allowed us to invest strongly into production capability and in research and development,”.
“We are proud to support our customer with the Senop AFCD TI. The order we received is a clear indication and proof of our expertise and ability to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customer´s requirements and enhance operational firepower.”
Senop specialises in high-performance night vision devices, intelligent sensor technology solutions, and secure communications for defence and security sectors.
The company also provides system integration services for critical infrastructure industries.
Earlier in November 2024, Saab Australia was awarded a contract to provide through-life support for the Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle for the Australian Army.
This initiative is part of the Short Range Anti-Armour Weapon System support contract.
