The top five companies accounted for 54% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that CEA filed the most advanced materials patents within the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 22 advanced materials-related patents in the quarter, compared with 2 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Commissariat General a l'Energie Atomique with 8 advanced materials patent filings, U.S. Department of Defense (6 filings), and Safran (2 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 43% share of total patent filings
The largest share of advanced materials related patent filings in the aerospace, defence & security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 43%, followed by France (16%) and China (7%). The share represented by the US was 0.77% higher than the 42% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
