The US State Department has approved two potential foreign military sales (FMS) to Morocco.
The first FMS, valued at approximately $86m, is for GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs and related equipment.

This sale is expected to enhance Morocco’s defence capabilities and interoperability with US forces.
This includes 500 GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs I (SDB I) and two GBU-39 (T-1)/B inert practice bombs with fuse.
The GBU-39B SDB is a precision-guided munition designed to enable aircraft to carry a higher number of bombs due to its small size.
The sale also encompasses non-MDE items such as GBU-39 tactical training rounds, support equipment, spare parts, transportation support, and logistical support services, among others.
Boeing Corporation is identified as the principal contractor for the sale, which is not expected to shift the existing military balance in the region.
The second sale includes that of advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) to Morocco, totalling $88.37m.
The AMRAAM comes in three variants—AIM-120A, AIM-120B, and AIM-120C—which are operational on US Air Force F-15, F-16, and F-22 aircraft.
This package includes 30 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAMs and one AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance section.
It also comprises AMRAAM telemetry kits, control section spares, and containers; common munitions built-in-test reprogramming equipment (CMBRE), ADU-891 Computer Test Set Adapter Groups; munitions support and support equipment, and more.
This is intended to strengthen Morocco’s air defence and support its F-16 Block 72 fleet operations.
RTX will be the prime contractor.
These proposed sales follow a recent approval for a $260m sale of Javelin anti-tank missiles to the country.
