Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics USA is set to supply critical avionics systems for the US Army’s UH-72A Lakotas.
As part of contracts awarded to Airbus Helicopters last month, the company will deliver the avionics package for a total of 51 Lakotas.
The Safran supplied avionics package comprises of the autopilot system, the Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), and a data acquisition unit.
The AHRS is designed to offer high-precision, autonomous navigation capacities for crews operating in rough conditions.

The company registered sales of €16.5bn in 2017. It provides optronics, avionics, electronics and critical software for both civil and defence applications.
The twin-engine utility helicopter is deployed in several military operations, including troop and light cargo transport, MEDEVAC, VIP transport, border security, and homeland defence.
The Lakotas will also be used to carry out disaster relief and counter-drug operations in support of civil agencies or national emergencies.
