Saab has received an order to supply mobile camouflage systems (MCS) to Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) for use on the German Armed Forces new Leopard 2 A7V tanks.
The Barracuda MCS is capable of providing multispectral protection for vehicles when moving or in a static position, Saab stated.
Saab Dynamics business area head Görgen Johansson said: “We are fully certified by the customer as a supplier of advanced mobile camouflage solutions, which we are extremely proud of.
“With this order, the customer will equip their tanks with a reliable, multispectral and combat-proven camouflage system. This year we celebrate 60 years of developing static and mobile camouflage systems, and this order is a proof of that experience.”
Deliveries of the woodland Barracuda MCS are expected to begin in 2018 and continue until 2022.
Saab’s camouflage protection solutions have the ability to decrease the enemy’s ability to detect and engage.
