German military technology provider Rheinmetall has secured a contract to provide an Asian customer with its latest advanced SkyShield air defence technology.
The €100m contract was won by Rheinmetall Air Defence following a competitive bidding process.
While production of the SkyShield air defence systems is already being carried out by the company, deliveries are expected to take place in the next three years.
Rheinmetall Air Defence will be responsible for delivering reconnaissance sensors, 35mm fire units, and accompanying command and control equipment to the customer country.
A comprehensive logistics and service package, along with complete training support for operators and maintenance personnel, as well as technical assistance and live fire exercise support in the Asian country is included in the contract.
The contract will also support local companies, allowing them to take part in the project, including building construction and vehicle procurement.
Owing to its expertise in manufacturing advanced short-range air defence systems, Rheinmetall is already preparing for additional follow-up orders.
Rheinmetall’s SkyShield is an all-weather short-range air defence system designed specifically to protect high-value assets.
Lightweight and compact, it is an advanced and effective system for low-level air defence. The system ensures maximum operational flexibility when mounted on a ground vehicle.
