The US State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Poland, aimed at enhancing the European nation’s air traffic control capabilities.
The sale, which involves mobile ground control approach (GCA-2000) systems that consist of ultra-high frequency radios and related logistics, is estimated to cost $105m (418m zlotys).
The Defence Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of the possible sale.
Poland has also requested to buy AN/UPX interrogators, precision navigation systems, radio navigation equipment, test equipment, spare parts, consumables, warranties, and extensive training and support services.
The sale is seen as a move to support the stability and security of a NATO ally, contributing to the broader objectives of political and economic equilibrium in Europe.
It is anticipated that the integration of these systems will enhance Poland’s ability to address both current and future threats, aligning with international aviation service standards and reinforcing its commitment to NATO’s collective security.
