Orolia Defense and Security has won a contract to supply multiple BroadSim advanced global positioning system (GPS) simulator systems to the US military.
Under the $1.7m contract, the company will develop the new simulator systems as part of the US military’s plan to modernise testing facilities and field test assets.

Using the simulator systems, GPS receivers that are integrated into air and ground-based positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) systems can be put through improved testing.
Currently, the US military uses Orolia’s PANACEA test suite to conduct automated testing and analysis for PNT system performance and vulnerabilities.
The company noted that using the company’s test suite, BroadSim will diversify the testing process.
During testing, it will support multiple test methods and environments including a laboratory setting or an Over-The-Air (OTA) field test event.
BroadSim features four independent RF outputs, removable drives and software-defined architecture. This allows for flexibility and easy configuration based on testing needs.

In the following month, Orolia is scheduled to host a web seminar addressing the PNT Vulnerability Testing for Critical Infrastructure – Lessons Learned from Defense.
In September last week, Orolia expanded its portfolio of PNT solutions and capabilities with the acquisition of US firm Talen-X.
