Northrop Grumman has secured a $124.7m contract to produce radar warning receiver and electronic warfare management systems for the US Army and Navy.
The contract for AN/APR-39D(V)2 follows the successful completion of engineering and manufacturing development activities.
The small, lightweight digital radar warning receiver and electronic warfare management system also passed a series of tests conducted to validate the system’s readiness for production and the demands of combat operations.
Using high-performance digital receiver technology and improved signal processing, the system can provide 360° coverage to detect and identify radio frequency threats to an aircraft.
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems land and avionics C4ISR division vice-president Robert Fleming said: “With the AN/APR-39D(V)2, we are bringing mature, fifth-generation digital technology to the rotary fleet.
“With its growth path to additional capabilities, including radio frequency countermeasures and advanced self-protection, the AN/APR-39D(V)2 will help warfighters stay ahead of emerging threats.”
