Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract for the delivery of the target-acquisition designation-sight/pilot night vision sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) systems to the US and Indonesian armies.
Under the terms of the $80.6m deal, the company will supply a total of eight targeting and pilotage systems and spares to the US Army and nine systems to the Indonesian Army.
The systems are expected to be installed onboard the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control M-TADS/PNVS programme director Matt Hoffman said: "The M-TADS/PNVS system is helping save [the] lives of our US and allied troops by giving Apache pilots the ability to engage targets accurately, and by improving situational awareness."
US Army Apache Sensors product manager lieutenant colonel Steven Van Riper said the latest production directly supports the AH-64E production line.
"Being able to bundle our procurement with one of our foreign military sales partners increases our buying power," Riper said.

By GlobalDataAlso known as Arrowhead, the M-TADS/PNVS is an advanced electro-optical fire control system, designed to provide Apache attack helicopter pilots with long-range, electro-optical precision engagement and flying targeting capabilities for day, night and adverse-weather missions.
The system replaces the legacy TADS/PNVS direct-view optics with a new TADS electronic display and control (TEDAC) unit, which enables image fusion and also augment the pilot’s target resolution and situational awareness on the battlefield.
To date, more than 1,200 M-TADS/PNVS systems and spares have been supplied by Lockheed to the US Army and 13 international customers worldwide.
The contract extends the M-TADS/PNVS production at the company’s facilities in Orlando and Ocala, Florida, US, through to July 2016.
