US President Donald J. Trump has announced a new strategy to address threats from South Asia in an effort to enhance security of the country and its allies and partners.

The new strategy, which will involve Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and the Central Asian nations, seeks to prevent Taliban from gaining foothold in Afghanistan and stop mass terror attacks against America.

The strategy is expected to be supported by Nato allies and global partners such as Australia who have already committed to provide additional troops and funding increases.

Trump also declared that nuclear weapons and materials must be prevented from reaching terrorists.

According to Trump, a withdrawal from Afghanistan would create space for terrorists in that country.

Trump intends to work with India to provide more economic assistance and targeted development to the people of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Foundation is calling on Trump to withdraw 4,000 US troops from Afghanistan by Christmas this year.

It has also requested Trump to reduce the number of US-paid, private security contract personnel operating covertly in Afghanistan.
