Selex Elsag has been awarded a contract to upgrade Nato’s satellite communication (satcom) systems and related infrastructure to improve its operational capability.
Under the contract, the company will design, build, test, commission and support infrastructure and communications systems upgrades.
The upgrades will be provided to multiple-antenna satellite ground stations in Belgium and Italy, and single-antenna facilities in Turkey and Greece.
A new building and satcom facility will also be set up in Belgium to reduce manning requirements and through-life costs as part of the contract.
The programme will provide improved space segment efficiency, operational security and interoperability, and resilience and security in support of Alliance operations worldwide.
