Sagem has been awarded a contract to supply its SIGMA 30 navigation and pointing systems to German manufacturer Krauss Maffei Wegmann (KMW).
They will be integrated in all the Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH2000) tracked-artillery systems that KMW is scheduled to supply to Qatar.
The contract’s value and additional details, including the number of units ordered and delivery schedule, remain undisclosed.
Around 24 PzH2000 howitzers were ordered by Qatar, along with 62 Leopard 2 main battle tanks (MBTs) under a €1.89bn deal in April 2013.
This also included the supply of peripheral equipment and training installations, as well as additional services to the Qatar Armed Forces.
Based on Sagem’s advanced digital-ring laser gyro technology, the SIGMA 30 gives long-range artillery a quick, high-precision firing capability without GPS.
