The US Army has selected Rockwell Collins to research advanced system designs and integration processes for the architecture implementation process demonstration (AIPD) to support the development of the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) family of systems.
The FVL programme aims to develop military vertical lift aircraft for the US Armed Forces.
To be developed in five different sizes, the aircraft will have common hardware, such as sensors, avionics, engines and countermeasures.
Rockwell Collins rotary wing solutions senior director Heather Robertson said: “Rockwell Collins is pioneering modelling and analysis methods for complex electronic equipment development, such as those envisioned to be required for FVL.
“These technologies automate error-prone, costly manual methods for specifying and designing products, which helps us to deliver value to our customers.”
The company will also help army personnel to investigate advanced open-system architecture technologies and engineering capabilities for future mission equipment packages (MEP).
