Rockwell Collins has completed a production readiness review (PRR) of its common range integrated instrumentation system (CRIIS).
The CRIIS is being offered as a replacement for the advanced range data system (ARDS) currently being used at major US military test ranges.
The PRR was conducted in cooperation with the test resource management centre (TRMC) and CRIIS System Program Office (SPO) at Eglin Air Force Base (AFB).
The review demonstrated that the system met US Department of Defense (US DoD) requirements to provide time, space, position information (TSPI) and additional platform test data.
It also included a review of Rockwell Collins’s manufacturing readiness status, quality management system and production planning capabilities to ensure schedule, performance and cost requirements will be achieved in the upcoming production phase.
The CRIIS will support a variety of platforms, including advanced fifth-generation aircraft, and offers common test and training infrastructure for improved operational realism.

Work on the system will be carried out at Rockwell Collins facilities in Richardson, Texas and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The system will initially be fielded at seven ranges, including Eglin AFB, Nellis AFB, Edwards AFB, NAS Patuxent River, NAS Pt. Mugu, NAWS China Lake and White Sands Missile Range.
