Recorded Future, along with its intelligence partner Team Cymru, has conducted in-depth analysis of data collected between 1 April and 6 July 2017 to find out the connection between North Korean cyber activity and missile launches or tests.
The report revealed that monitoring North Korea’s internet traffic is of little use when it comes to predicting their military behaviour, as there was no correlation between web activity and actions such as missile tests.

According to the report, North Korea does not use its own resources when carrying out international cyber-attacks but instead uses threat actors based in other countries.
The report also highlighted that North Korean leaders are likely aware of the impact that their decisions regarding missile tests, suppression of their population and criminal activities have on the international community.
North Korea is carrying out malicious cyber and criminal activities in India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nepal, Kenya, Mozambique, and Indonesia.
The report concluded that the attempts to isolate North Korean elite and leadership from the international community are failing.
It also claimed that sanctions imposed and massive international pressure could not keep North Korea away from the outside world.
