The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a three-year enabling agreement to Nammo for the demilitarisation of ammunition.
Under the agreement, the company would be responsible for the demilitarisation of natures of ammunition considered beyond normal service life by the MoD.
The company has selected EPC UK as the teaming partners for the programme, expanding on their successful relationship where the facility at Bramble Island, Essex, UK, has been used for storage and onward shipping before the final demilitarisation.
With facilities meeting the strict national and European requirements for the discharge of effluent through the air, water and ground, Nammo also received a five-year demil contract from the MoD.
Nammo demil division executive vice-president Reijo Bragberg said: "NAMMO are delighted to have been awarded this agreement; this shows that the execution of the previous agreement has been successful in providing efficient demil services meeting all customer requirements and this agreement will continue to contribute in delivering value for money for our customer, the UK MoD.
"This is yet further proof that our strategy in offering environmentally responsible multiple demilitarisation technologies is attractive and competitive on the market.

Meanwhile, routine small-scale disposals will continue to be carried out by the MoD’s Shoeburyness facility in Essex, which is operated by QinetiQ.
