Meggitt Training Systems has been selected to upgrade the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation and Training’s (PEO STRI) small-arms trainer systems.
Under a $15.6m order, the company will supply an engagement skills trainer (EST) II system to the army’s locations worldwide.
Meggitt Training Systems president Jeff Murphy said: "The US Army and National Guard are upgrading their existing EST systems to the highly advanced EST II, and they’ve long recognised Meggitt as the strategic partner to help them with their training goals.
"The decision was made to modernise the inventory of small-arms trainers to integrate additional training capabilities as future requirements evolve."
The company is supplying its FATS M100 advanced reality training simulator to replace the army’s incumbent EST 2000 system.
The trainer easily integrates Meggitt and third-party training modules covering 3-D marksmanship.
