The Indian Army will conduct the INDRA joint counter-terrorism combat exercise with the Russian Army at Cheetah training range in East Russia next year.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing defence cooperation, interoperability and military-to-military relations between the two armies.
During the battalion-level exercise, infantry troops from both armies will carry out counter-insurgency and anti-terrorist operations in different terrains.
Press Trust of India has reported the Army officials as saying that the two nations also have plans to make the INDRA exercise an annual event that will be conducted alternatively in India and Russia.
The INDRA joint exercises have been conducted since 2003 and include naval exercises as well as biannual peacekeeping drills.
