The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has conducted a large-scale training exercise that simulated the abduction of a soldier from a Jordan Valley army base.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the exercise was part of the military’s annual exercise regimen and is aimed to test and improve IDF response and ability in the event of soldier kidnapping.
During the drill, soldiers performed abduction and terrorist infiltration scenarios to test the readiness of Division 162, which is stationed along the border.
IDF Ground Forces Command colonel Shlomi Fayer said: "It is the first type of general staff-level drill and is a result of warnings and alerts that we have about plans to kidnap soldiers."
The drill also sought participation from elite IDF units, including fighter jets.
