Finland has requested M31A1 unitary and M30A1 alternative missiles from the US as part of a potential foreign military sale (FMS).
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of the potential FMS, which is estimated to be worth $150m.
Finland has requested 40 guided multiple-launch rocket system (GMLRS) pods. This will include 15 pods for M31A1 unitary missiles (six missiles per pod for a total of 90 missiles) and 25 pods for M30A1alternative warhead missiles (six missiles per pod for a total of 150 missiles).
The proposed package also includes publications, personnel training and equipment, US Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and software development.
The deal will enhance Finland’s strength along its national borders.
The principle contractor will be Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control in Grand Prairie, Texas, US.

By GlobalDataAn upgraded version of the legacy M26 rocket, the GMLRS is a short-range, road-mobile, solid-propellant artillery rocket. It is designed to destroy ground targets at a distance of up to 70km, with minimal collateral damage.
The system is fired from M270A1 MLRS and M142 high-mobility artillery rocket system launchers, and can engage moving ground targets with high-explosive grenades designed for use against both personnel and vehicles.
It can also destroy surface-to-air missile sites, airfields, or communication centres.
In March, the Jordanian Government requested an estimated $192m sale of M31 unitary GMLRS rocket pods.
