Thales has secured a contract from the French Defence Procurement and Technology Agency (DGA) to upgrade the French Ministry of Defence’s (DoD) telecom networks.
Awarded under the Descartes programme, the contract includes enhancements for the Socrate resilient network and installation of the Poincare secure interconnection architecture.
The company will upgrade Socrate by providing a highly resilient and scalable high-data-rate network.
Thales Secure Communication and Information Systems executive vice-president Marc Darmon said: "This upgrade of the french MoD’s telecommunication networks is a perfect illustration of Thales’s expertise in technological innovation and ability to deploy a resilient network with the highest levels of performance and security."
The company will incorporate the Nexium View solution, which is designed to ensure continuity of the French military’s most important operational missions, such as nuclear deterrence, and the country’s permanent air security presence.
Nexium View will facilitate the MoD’s IT and communications agency (DIRISI) to supervise all aspects of the network.
