Comtech Telecommunications’ Command & Control Technologies group has received contract modifications to continue support for the US Army’s Blue Force Tracking (BFT-1) programme.
The $4.2m contract extension was exercised as part of the five-year BFT-1 sustainment support contract that was originally awarded in April.

Under the sustainment contract, Comtech will provide engineering services, satellite network operations and programme management for BFT-1 battle command, real-time situational awareness and control system.
BFT-1 systems locate friendly military forces and can also send and receive text and image messages.
Commenting on the contract, Comtech Telecommunications president and chief executive officer Fred Kornberg said: “We are pleased that our army customer recognises the value of Comtech’s services.
“Comtech is committed to providing the army and its soldiers with the highest level of support to enable them to complete their missions.”
The base performance of the contract period commenced on 15 April 2017 and ends on 14 April 2018.
The contract also provides four twelve-month option periods exercisable by General Services Administration.
These modifications made fulfilled the government’s obligation to fund the firm fixed price (FFP) portion of the contract, according to the company.
