The Government of Canada has selected Textron Systems’s advanced architecture phase amplitude and time simulator (A2PATS) for its new electronic warfare threat simulator (NEWTS) programme.

Textron’s (A2PATS) is an advanced electromagnetic environment simulator that offers electronic warfare (EW), communications and electronic intelligence capabilities, thus providing performance and flexibility in verifying EW systems.

Using A2PATS for its NEWTS, the government can reduce the system’s logistical footprint and lifecycle costs, while maximising its availability.

Canada’s Department of National Defence will use the NEWTS to replace the Advanced Multiple Environment Simulator II (AMES II) system installed at the Canadian Forces Air Warfare Centre (CFAWC), Electronic Warfare Operation Support (EWOS) unit in Ottawa.
