BAE Systems Australia has announced plans to demonstrate its armoured modular vehicle (AMV35) combat reconnaissance vehicle (CRV) for Phase 2 of the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Land 400 programme.
A result of the partnership between BAE and Finnish Patria, the AMV35 is designed to meet the Australian Army’s mounted combat reconnaissance requirements.
The vehicle integrates BAE Systems Hägglunds’ CV9035 turret onto a highly protected military-off-the-shelf (MOTS) Patria AMV.
BAE Systems Australia chief executive Glynn Phillips said: "Our three test vehicles are built and ready to go for the army’s 12 months of rigorous testing in the risk mitigation activity stage of the tender evaluation later this year.
"We believe the AMV35 is technically superior to its rivals and is a value-for-money solution for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) which also accommodates their on-going land combat vehicle needs.
"The fact that these vehicles are available now proves we have a low-risk solution. We look forward to the Commonwealth’s announcement of successful tenders. If selected, the trials will enable us to demonstrate fully the exceptional capabilities and benefits of the AMV35."

The Land 400 Phase 2 project focuses on delivering a replacement for the Australian Light Armoured Vehicle, which has been used by the Australian Defence Force in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan, and is schedule for retirement in 2021.
