The contract for 8×8 amphibious infantry fighting vehicles was awarded by the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the UAE Armed Forces.

The GHQ's decision to purchase the vehicles was made following a thorough commercial / technical evaluation by Tawazun, Otokar stated.

Otokar general manager Serdar Görgüç said: "Otokar is very proud to be a partner in this important programme, and it shall be a privilege for Otokar to be able to serve the UAE Army and to meet their high standards.”

Al Jasoor will manufacture the vehicles in Abu Dhabi, by using the existing facilities of Tawazun Industrial Park.

The 8×8 infantry vehicle will be equipped with an amphibious kit and is capable of withstanding mines and ballistic threats.

It underwent a series of successful extensive all-terrain tests in the UAE, according to the statement.

Earlier this year, Otokar presented Cobra II, Kaya II, Arma 6×6, as well as the new generation tracked armoured vehicle Tulpar-S personnel carrier version at IDEX 2017.

The Cobra II has been designed to provide protection against current threats, while Arma is a multi-wheeled modular armoured vehicle provides mine and ballistic protection, as well as medium and high-calibre weapon system integration options.

Otokar's Kaya II is a mine-resistant personnel carrier developed for export markets and successfully passed tests in many different regions worldwide.

The Tulpar-S personnel carrier with flexible electronic architecture can be used in various configurations ranging from weapons carriers to personnel carriers.
