Airbus Defence and Space is set to present a new cyber sensor for combating advanced persistent threats (APT) at the upcoming Infosecurity Europe exhibition in London, UK.
Called Keelback Net, the sensor continuously monitors traffic flows, enabling early detection and investigation of suspect behaviour on company networks, especially ‘weak signals’, which are stealthy and impossible to spot through classical detection methods.
The sensor combines multiple analysis methods and capabilities, which allows for more rapid detection of threats and processing of larger amounts of data.
Airbus Defence and Space UK CyberSecurity head Phil Jones said: "Keelback Net combines classic methods like signature tracking and state-of-the-art detection based on behaviour, and a new method of weak signal reconnaissance, that can reveal the activities of attackers.
"Customers benefit from an identification and characterisation of cyber threats through a combination of capabilities working on network level of customers’ IT infrastructure.
"Moreover, Keelback Net is offered as a service which can be tailored to suit the customer’s network."

By GlobalDataAfter deployment on a customer’s network environment, Keelback Net constantly monitors data traffic, identifies and detects threats, analyses stealthy characteristic signs of a malware, and instantly raises an alarm if an attack is suspected.
Airbus experts qualify the alarm using a continually updated knowledge database, and it is then handled in accordance with notification and response scenarios established in close cooperation with the customer.
Keelback Net has been developed to effectively counter the increasing number of sophisticated attacks targeting organisations with an aim to steal sensitive information.
Infosecurity Europe 2015 is in its 20th iteration and will take place from 2 to 4 June.
