ABM Government Services has received a contract for delivery of full range logistics support services to the US Army base, Fort Benning in Georgia, US.
Awarded by the Army Contracting Command Rock Island (ACC-RI), the five-year modification logistics contract features a $42.9m base performance year, with an additional $50m in the years to follow and a maximum potential value of $268.9m over its lifetime.
Under the contract, the company will provide Fort Benning Directorate of Logistics with a broad spectrum of logistics services, including material maintenance, retail / wholesale supply, as well as transportation support.
The contract was awarded under the army’s enhanced army global logistics enterprise (EAGLE) programme, which seeks to award task orders to full-service prime contractors capable of providing an integrated approach for global logistics services in support of military missions.
ABM Government Services’ president, Les Cunningham, said the EAGLE acquisition strategy was put in place due to the fact that in the past, many installations placed separate contracts on these logistics requirements, and that was not a cost-effective use of American taxpayer dollars.
”One of ABM’s central philosophies lies in offering integrated services, and this is certainly true of our government services,” Cunningham said.

The EAGLE acquisition strategy centralises on functional responsibility, while eliminating redundancy and maximising efficiency by combining maintenance, supply and transportation support services into one performance requirement, according to the army.
