The US senate has approved around $60bn in war funds to pay for a troop increase in Afghanistan, and to aid efforts to help earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Of the allocated funds, a total of $33bn will be used to finance the 30,000 additional troops for Afghanistan announced by the US Government in December 2009, according to Reuters.

The war spending bill also includes $5bn to replenish disaster aid accounts and money for Haitian earthquake relief and aid to US allies in the fight against terror.
Around $4bn in funding has been allocated for a civilian surge to help bring economic aid to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The spending priorities covered in the bill also include $13bn for benefits for Vietnam War veterans exposed to Agent Orange, $5.1bn for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $2.8bn for rebuilding work in Haiti.
