Lockheed Martin has been contracted by the US joint forces to supply additional equipment for the airborne, maritime / fixed station joint tactical radio system (AMF JTRS).
Under the contract, the company will produce more than 150 units of additional equipment, including pre-production small airborne radio models, management and control units, power amplifiers as well as radio ancillaries.
AMF JTRS is an encrypted internet-protocol network that will provide consistent, secure, wideband mobile communications to the joint forces.
Additional equipment will be fitted to the army’s AMF JTRS equipped AH-64D Apache, CH-47D Chinook and UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, and the air force’s C-130 AMP and AC-130U fixed-wing aircraft as well as the unmanned MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper.
The AMF JTRS interfaced with legacy radios, waveforms and systems will link more than 100 platforms connecting them to remote area communications.
The waveforms scheduled to be integrated into the AMF JTRS network include wideband networking waveform, soldier radio waveform, mobile user objective system, UHF SATCOM, link-16 and single channel ground-air radio system among others.
