The Utah Army National Guard has received the first of 24 new Apache Longbow helicopters at the Guard Army Aviation Support Facility in West Jordan.
The multimission AH-64D Apache Longbow is the future-generation variant of AH-64A Apache.
The Longbow’s capabilities include longer-range weapons accuracy, all-weather / night fighting, detection of moving or stationary objects without being detected and classification of up to 128 targets in less than a minute.
In addition, the helicopter features integrated sensors, networking, and digital communications for situational awareness, management of the battlefield in real time, and digital transmission of images and target locations to ground commanders.
The aircraft would be a part of Utah’s military inventory and the guard members from the 1-211th Aviation Battalion will take possession of rest of the aircraft to be deployed in the next three years.
