The Slovak Army has ordered ten light multirole vehicles (LMV) from Iveco, a subsidiary of Fiat Group.
The vehicle is designed for high tactical mobility with a high maximum road speed, and optimal off-road and cross-country performance.
The LMV is also highly protected against anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, with an emphasis on crew protection.
The vehicle incorporates a v-shaped base, and uses materials capable of managing and absorbing the blast energy generated by a mine detonation.
Key design features are geared towards high reliability through use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) main assemblies, such as the gearbox and engine, to ensure on-site repair and operation.
Armaments that can be loaded on the vehicle include 7,62mm or 12.7mm remote weapon stations with a 40mm grenade launcher.
The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered by 2009.
